Fall 2017 Class Schedule

The Parenting Center at Kehillat Israel is an inviting and warm program, united by the joyful pursuit of friendship and education, rooted in Jewish values and promoting the wellbeing of young families and children. Our aim is to foster a lifelong love of learning as well as a connection to Judaism and the Jewish people.

Tummy Time

Ages: newborn/ infant

Instructor/guide: Jaclyn Lafer 

Mondays I 9:15 AM – First class is October 16

An early infant play group integrating pleasurable and purposeful tummy time play, music, and discovery play through age appropriate sensory and motor activities and toys which stimulate exploration and interaction. A time for parents and babies together to gain the valuable rewards of social interaction and thoughtful engagement.

 

Fee: $180

Crawlers

Ages: early motorists

Instructor/guide: Jaclyn Lafer 

Thursdays I 9:15 AM – First class is October 19

Come and play with your older infant as we create an environment for your baby to discover physical (gross and ne motor) and cognitive developmental play skills through age appropriate activities and toys which stimulate exploration and interaction.

Walkers

Ages: motoring to preschool ready

Instructor/guide: Jaclyn Lafer 

Fridays I 9:30 AM – First class is October 20

This is our Shabbat centered parent and me class. We will weave the celebration of Shabbat and Jewish tradition through a class designed to enhance preschool readiness. Activity choices will be offered and families can move through stations doing art, creating music, and purposefully playing together. This class is designed to support con dence and autonomy building and model healthy pro-social engagement with friends, as little ones prepare to separate from parents and move into preschool.

Challenges and rewards of parenting – discussion group

Led by Jaclyn Lafer, the Parenting Center Coordinator

First Friday of every month I 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM

 

A discussion of common or unique parenting concerns. An opportunity to learn from peers,
to gain new insights about the parental developmental process and to gain support for the sometimes challenging work of raising a child. Topics might range from potty learning, separation challenges, bedtime or mealtime conflicts, welcoming a new sibling and many other ideas that will be generated by the group.
