Your child’s time in our ECC is precious and short.  A quality early childhood education is as essential as a good home and balanced diet. We know that every child is an individual and develops at a different rate and as educators we respect that while continuously encouraging them to grow and flourish. Developmental Milestones for Preschool Children 3-4 years old

(36-48 months)

Social Emotional

  • Takes turns with others
  • Shows concern for others
  • Displays a wide range of emotions
  • Has to learn to distinguish between fantasy and reality
  • More independent
  • Can play games with simple rules


  • Can do puzzles with 4-6 pieces
  • Can copy simple shapes onto paper
  • Can screw and unscrew lids
  • Understands counting and beginning number concepts
  • Recalls information


  • Can do simple household tasks
  • Can put on clothes
  • Can wash hands and face
  • Feeds self with more accuracy
  • Can brush hair


  • Can follow 2-3 step directions
  • Can carry on a 2-3 sentence conversation
  • Masters some basic grammar rules
  • Speaks clearly enough for others to understand most of the time
  • Uses and understands directional words (in, on, under…)

Gross Motor

  • Runs easily
  • Climbs well
  • Pedals tricycle
  • Walks up and down stairs
  • Can hop on one foot
  • Can throw overhead and mostly catch a bounced ball

Fine Motor

  • Draws a person with 4-5 body parts
  • Uses scissors
  • Begin to copy capital letters
  • Draws circle and square
